The Concho Valley Family Alliance (CVFA) formed in January 2005 upon receipt of a grant awarded to the Children's Advocacy Center that focused on strengthening families to prevent child abuse and neglect. We know that when you strengthen families you prevent more than just child abuse and neglect. You help to prevent juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, and many other issues effecting families in their homes. The CVFA is comprised of parents, community residents, churches, businesses, agency and government entities who work together to devise solutions to strengthen families. Members gather the 1st Tuesday of every month to confer about community concerns in order to develop initiatives, create new services, or modify existing services that will better meet the needs of families in our community. Counties served include: Crockett, Coke, Concho, Sterling, Schleicher, Sutton, Irion, Regan, Runnels, and Tom Green. Parents, community members, business and agency partners are vital to strengthen families and devise solutions and programs for the betterment of our community. Parents are needed to voice their concerns and opinions about the programs and services in our community. Other duties will include parents engaging in “Shared Leadership” with other community, business and agency partners, contributing to publications, participating in awareness events, acting as co-trainers to lead parenting classes and support groups, participating in focus groups, and the list goes on. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? WHO: Parents, residents of the Concho Valley, business and agency partners, school, and government! Anyone who wants to address problems in our community that are related to children and families.
WHAT: All parents, residents, and agency partners coming together in a joint effort to create solutions for our families and children and to strengthen families in the Concho Valley. WHEN: CVFA meetings are held at 12:00 pm, the first Tuesday of each month. Call 653-4673 for location information.
HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Participate! Your contribution is important. There are so many ways you can help—no matter how great or small— You can speak, distribute info, tell your friends & neighbors, help organize, vote, have a say in what you want for your children and your community. We can strengthen families with the help of parents, students, teachers, business professionals, retired men and women, civic organizations and YOU.
