Volunteer Opportunities with Children's Advocacy Center of Tom Green County
Thank you for your interest in joining the volunteer family at the Children's Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. Whether you have an hour or two a month or a few hours a week, we can use your help. Volunteers make such a difference in the lives of the children and families who come to our center. With your help, we will continue to champion the cause of child abuse prevention and serve as an ally of abused and neglected children.

If you would like to volunteer with any of the following program(s):
Volunteer Opportunities
Concho Valley Family Alliance
Help at monthly meetings (first Tuesday of each month at 12:00pm). Assist with set up and or clean-up; meal preparation, greeter, and recorder of minutes. Time investment 1 to 2 hours per month.
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)
CASAs serve as community volunteers who have received court-approved training and who are appointed by the court to act as advocates for abused and neglected children whose home placements are being decided by the court. 30 hour training and a one year commitment required. Time investment 5- 10 hours a month.
Family Enrichment Services
Help by supporting the program which provides ongoing support groups and classes to parents and children. Volunteers may assist by providing our clients with snacks such as baked good, donated snacks, set up or clean-up and helping prepare meals. Assistance with childcare does require a background check. Time investment 2-4 hours per week.
Prevention Program Assistant
Duties vary.
Support Services
Help spread the word about the services and programs available to all families by distributing information throughout the community – doctor’s office, hospitals, library, WIC office, help us find new groups to talk to about our center and the programs. Set your own hours!
Note: To ensure the safety of the children we serve and that of our volunteers, The Children's Advocacy Center of Tom Green County, Inc. will perform a felony, sex offender and CPS background check on all individuals who sign up to volunteer for any of our activities or events that will be attended by the children we serve.

Visitation Observation Notes & Questions
Visiting between parents and their children is an essential component of work with children in foster care and their families. It is also a right and a responsibility retained by parents. It has been demonstrated that children who have frequent, meaningful visits with their parents are more likely to return home.
